Liverpool fans will be expecting a far better season than they endured last term, where they finished 8th and suffered two cup final defeats.
Jurgen Klopp was appointed midway through the season and instilled some stability in a side clearly struggling to improve under Brendan Rodgers.
And with this being Klopp’s first summer transfer window as Liverpool boss, many are expecting him to conduct a complete overhaul of his squad.
Nothing less than a top four challenge will do for the Anfield faithful this season, which means Klopp will need to make signing these eight a priority this summer…
Piotr Zielinski
A centre midfielder that Klopp is supposedly very keen on, Zielinski was reportedly the subject of a £9.5m bid from Liverpool last month.
The Udinese star, who has been on loan at FC Empoli over the last two years, has been used primarily in an attacking role, employing impressive dribbling skills and accurate distribution in his skill-set.
Cristian Tello
Cristian Tello played well with Florentina during the second half of last season, where he arrived on loan in the January window.
The 24 year-old striker has seen his potential plateau a bit over the last few seasons, but hopes were high on Tello after a season in La Liga where he scored 11 goals in 24 appearances as a 20-year-old.
Gonzalo Higuaín
Higuain netted an incredible 36 goals in 35 appearances for Napoli last term.
With a goal every 83 minutes, the 28 year-old centre forward has made himself one of the hottest properties in Europe, and he is currently valued at around £45m.
Héctor Herrera
After three seasons with FC Porto, it looks like Héctor Herrara is moving on.
Herrera, 26, played 29 matches in the Liga NOS last term, scoring nine goals and registering four assists.
Herrera is a typical box-to-box midfielder and would add so much to Klopp’s midfield.
Samuel Bastien
If there is a young, exciting central midfielder Liverpool should sign this summer, it’s Belgian midfielder Samuel Bastien of Anderlecht.
Bastien was on loan with Avellino in the Serie B last term, making 31 appearances.
They had a chance to make his deal permanent, but have yet to do so, which would pave the way for Klopp to pounce if he wants to.
Pepe Reina
Reina is no stranger to Liverpool fans and, if Simon Mignolet’s performances last season are anything to go by, the Spaniard would be welcomed back with open arms – though he would no doubt have to settle for a place on the bench as a back up.
Raphaël Guerreiro
Guerreiro, 22, is a left back that has been an integral part of FC Lorient in Ligue 1 the past three seasons.
The Portugal international had 34 appearances last season, playing just over 2,500 minutes.
He also chipped in with three goals and two assists.
Niklas Süle
With Kolo Toure all but gone, and Martin Skrtel showing a desire to leave, Sule has the ability to fill a position of need in centre back at Liverpool.
The Germany U21 international has been at Hoffenheim since 2010, and made 33 appearances for the Bundesliga club last term, playing almost 3,000 minutes.
