Paul Robinson believes that Tottenham Hotspur will loan out Troy Parrott in the summer transfer window, per Football Insider.
What’s he said?
The Irish striker signed a new contract with the club last week, committing himself to the club until 2023.
Parrott has been an exceptional talent in the youth teams, scoring 30 goals in 36 games in all competitions across the U18s, the U19s and the U23s.
He has, thus far, made two senior appearances for Spurs, playing against Colchester United in the EFL Cup under Mauricio Pochettino and against Burnley in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.
But Robinson, who played for the club between 2004 and 2008, believes he needs to continue learning his trade before making a significant impact in the first-team; he has won a senior cap for the Republic of Ireland, however.
He said: “He’s only 18.
“He’s got a cap for Ireland, he’s not even played a full game this year. He’s got 66 minutes of a League Cup and five minutes in the Premier League – so he’s not getting his opportunities at Spurs at the moment but he’s a quality player.
“I think in the future, (next season) we’ll possibly see him going out on loan.
“Mourinho obviously looked to find a number nine in the window and he hasn’t done that, but Son or Moura plays up there in Harry Kane’s absence.
“Parrott has got a long way to go, he’s got a lot of learning to do, but there’s nobody better to sit behind and learn from than Harry Kane when he’s fit.
“I think potentially we will see him go out on loan but rewarding the young lad with a contract is the done thing.”
Nailed it
Sources at Spurs say that Parrott could well have gone out on loan in the January transfer window.
However, there were complications over his registration at the club – he needs to spend three consecutive, unbroken, years at the club to qualify as a club-trained player in UEFA competitions, per The Daily Telegraph – though that period has now elapsed.

Thus, sending him out in the summer makes all the sense in the world.
There were a number of Championship clubs interested – including both Charlton Athletic and QPR – and allowing him to go to a second-tier club and play regularly, potentially scoring goals along the way, will only improve him as a player.
Robinson, then, has absolutely nailed it here.
Meanwhile, Spurs’ Player of the Season has to be clear!
