Chief executive Omar Berrada previously said that United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wanted to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford in 2028 to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary. But the sheer scale of the problems Ruben Amorim's side face has led some insiders to allegedly scrap that plan.

United have not won the Premier League since 2013 and at present they seem to be going backwards under head coach Amorim, months after sacking Erik ten Hag and spending hundreds of millions in recent transfer windows. They sit 14th in the division and it seems they need yet another player overhaul this summer. A league title win may not happen this decade at this rate.
