Sheffield Wednesday rose to fifth in the table following a resounding victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls stuck four past the Midlands outfit in a frantic first half as Jordan Rhodes ended a 20-month wait for his first goals in the blue and white stripes.
He opened the scoring in the ninth minute before going on to notch a ‘perfect’ hat-trick, bagging with both feet and his head.
Top scorer Steven Fletcher continued his rich vein of form by bagging his 12th goal of the season right on the stroke of half-time with the second half being somewhat subdued by comparison.
Wednesday are now unbeaten in five matches.
Much of the talk after the game was surrounding the heroics of Rhodes, but there was still time for one other squad member to be talked up – Dominic Iorfa.
The 24-year-old played an integral part towards the Owls picking up their first clean sheet in nine league matches. Here’s what fans have been saying…
Supporters seem to be so thrilled with their colossus that they have also been hyping him up for big things with the Premier League being regularly talked about.
Others suggested awards such as the Ballon d’Or, even if it was a little tongue in cheek.
Iorfa has started to make that centre-back position his own having originally been signed as a right-back by former boss Steve Bruce.
His performances this campaign have even drawn comparisons to Owls legend Des Walker, who made over 300 appearances at Hillsborough between 1993 and 2001.
One also suggested that Iorfa was the ‘Championship van Dijk’ referring to Liverpool’s defensive titan who ran Lionel Messi close to the Ballon d’Or this year.
Garry Monk’s side are doing well to ignore all of the uncertainty they have been facing off the pitch by continuing to pick up results.
And that’s all they can do until they know their fate over the EFL’s charge.
