Luke Shaw has had a difficult couple of seasons at Manchester United under manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach publicly criticised the left-back’s fitness and questioned his commitment to the cause.
Before Tuesday night, the England international had made just two appearances, both as a substitute and both in the Carabao Cup.
With United all but through to the last 16 of the Champions League, Mourinho rung the changes for the visit of CSKA Moscow to Old Trafford.
Shaw was one of six changes to the team that defeated Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates, and it is fair to say that he was a standout performer on the night.
Rumours have been rife that his time at United is coming to an end due to the lack of minutes on the pitch.
After witnessing the performance on Tuesday night, fans are hopeful that Shaw will be a more regular feature in the team.
In the end, United secured their progression into the knockout rounds with a 2-1 victory over CSKA thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
