Lionel Messi was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday following his exceptional performance in Inter Miami's dominant 5-1 victory over Columbus Crew.
The 37-year-old Argentine scored twice in the match, becoming Inter Miami's all-time leading MLS goal scorer in the process. Messi's brilliance was on full display as he orchestrated Miami's attack, including providing a quick free kick assist to Tadeo Allende for the opening goal.

Since joining MLS midway through the 2023 season, Messi has transformed both Inter Miami and the league's global profile. His eight Player of the Matchday awards – six in 2024 and now two in 2025 – placing him among the most decorated players in MLS history.
Messi joins Carlos Vela and Josef Martínez as the only players to win Player of the Matchday six times in their first full MLS season.
